Fashion Icon Friday: Lana Del Ray

While she has only been on the scene for a few years, Elizabeth Woolridge Grant, or Lana Del Ray as we all know her, is already becoming quite the fashion icon. The 26 year old singer/songwriter started her career at 18 by performing in New York City nightclubs. By 21, she had a contract and in 2010 released her first album: Lana Del Ray a.k.a Lizzy Grant. Everyone started talking about Lana Del Ray when the music video for her single, “Video Games,” was posted on YouTube and immediately went viral. We just couldn’t get enough of this internet sensation. This year she released her second album: Born to Die; a huge hit despite her somewhat stingy performance on SNL.  

Today, we see her on billboards and bus stops throughout the city, as she is the face of H&M’s new Fall campaign. On top of modeling, Lana Del Ray also recorded a cover of “Blue Velvet.”  You can watch the music video here.

We see a parallel in Lana Del Rey’s style and music, being influenced by retro, 1950s and 1960s Americana with a touch of modernity. Not to mention her collaborations with other major brands shows that Del Rey is here to stay (sorry, we had to)!
