Fashion Icon Friday: Gisele Bündchen

She literally brought sexy back.  Gisele Bündchen is a Brazilian supermodel, actress and producer.  Her looks are like nothing the world has ever seen before, and is rumored to have single-handedly ended the ‘herioin chic’ era of modeling that was carried on by the likes of Kate Moss and Jamie King.  Her career consists of a Rolling Stone magazine cover (a place rarely allocated for models), a number of catwalks including opening for Dolce, Dior, Valentino, and Michael Kors. She’s also been the face for a number of fashion campaigns, and is by far one of the world’s best-known Victoria’s Secret Angels.

What makes Gisele an icon, however, is her business acumen and such titles as: the highest-paid model in the world, and the eighth richest woman in entertainment, earning a whopping $45M in 2012.  Today, you’ll find Gisele married to Patriots quarterback, Tom Brady, consistently topping the international charts as one of the sexiest women in the world, and was just announced to be the face of Chanel’s new makeup line, LES BEIGES, shot by Mario Testino. (It’s even rumored that she was chosen by Lagerfield himself.)

Chanel Introduces the Biggest Bag Ever
Karl Lagerfeld debuted this giant hula hoop bag yesterday for Chanel’s Spring 2013 fashion show in Paris. Although all the accessories were whimsical and over the top, this one truly takes the cake!
Now the question is, how much will this giant purse retail for?
Love it? Hate it? We just can’t decide!

Fashion Icon Friday: Blake Lively

Known as the privileged New York City socialite Serena van der Woodsen on the hit TV show Gossip Girl, Blake Lively is everywhere these days and looking FANTASTIC.

Not only does she style herself for every red carpet event and public appearance, she also recently married Hollywood heartthrob, Ryan Reynolds. Those might be the most beautiful unborn children ever.

This TV and movie star has worn everything from a daring red Valentino gown at the 2012 Emmys to a lacy little black Dolce & Gabbana number at a movie premiere, and she always looks stunning! We guess it doesn’t hurt to be best friends with Karl Lagerfeld or Christian Louboutin himself. Blake even has a Louboutin shoe officially named after her! We certainly wouldn’t mind a shoe named after us… hint, hint.

To top it off, Blake has served as the face of Chanel, and more recently, the face of Gucci Première perfume. In the Gucci campaign, launched August 2012, the blonde beauty donned a long gold gown, looking nothing short of stunning. We can’t wait to see what Blake wears next!

Fashion Icon Friday: Catherine Deneuve

This week’s fashion icon is the chic French actress, Catherine Deneuve.

Catherine started acting at the age of 11 in various French films and quickly became a French icon of beauty. Catherine has appeared in a variety of American films, including The Hunger with David Bowie and Susan Sarandon. This brought her recognition across the world, becoming known as one of the most stylish and beautiful women of all time.

She was a muse to the late Yves Saint Laurent, frequently appearing in his clothes for her many red carpet appearances. YSL also dressed Catherine for her films such as Belle de Jour and La Chamade. In the late 1970’s, she was the face of Chanel No. 5. In the 1980’s, Catherine created her own perfume line called “Deneuve,” later adding glasses, shoes, and jewelry to the collection.

In 2006, MAC cosmetics used Catherine as inspiration for its “Beauty Icon” series. While Catherine is considered a 1960’s fashion and style icon, she still remains in the industry, most recently appearing in Louis Vuitton ads.

Over time, she has kept her style: chic, feminine, yet sexy, always with a hint of French flair.

Fashion Icon Friday: Sofia Coppola

Sofia Coppola was born in New York, the only daughter of Eleanor Coppola and acclaimed director Francis Ford Coppola.

Sofia started acting at an early age in her father’s films, such as The Godfather and The Outsiders. Following in her father’s footsteps, Sofia became a director. Her first film was Lick the Star in 1998, followed by The Virgin Suicides. Her third film, Lost in Translation, won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay and Golden Globe for Best Film. It was also nominated for Best Director, making her the first American woman to be nominated in that category. Some of her other notable films include Marie Antionette, featuring over-the-top period costumes, and her most recent film, Somewhere.

Sofia has indulged in fashion since an early age, appearing in magazines like Seventeen during the 1990’s. When she was 15, she interned at Chanel. In 1998, Sofia and her friend, Stephanie Hayman, co-founded the line MilkFed, now exclusively sold in Japan. Marc Jacobs considers Sofia one of his muses, personally choosing her in 2002 as the face of his house fragrance. She has appeared in many of his ads, as well as Louis Vuitton ads. Sofia also combined her talents for directing and fashion when she directed Dior’s commercial for their fragrance Miss Dior Chérie shot in France.

Sofia’s style looks effortlessly chic but she is always dressed impeccably for her many red carpet awards appearances and, of course, fashion shows.

Fashion Icon Friday: Audrey  Tautou

This week’s fashion icon is the lovely French actress Audrey Tautou.

Audrey has starred prominently in French films; she entered the American radar in 2001 when the French film, Amélie was nominated for five Academy Awards. Her popularity grew as she starred alongside Tom Hanks in The Da Vinci Code. In 2009, she played fashion icon, Coco Chanel, in the film Coco Avant (Before) Chanel. To promote the film, Audrey was named spokesmodel for Chanel. She’s been featured in numerous Chanel ads and promotional film shorts. Audrey’s style is classic Parisian: simple yet elegant, and très très chic!

Watch Audrey in the Chanel No. 5 film.
