Pop-Ups Monday: Monday August 27

We’re all about mobile these days—and so is the rest of the world! So this Monday morning, we’re bringing three fabulous fashion tech apps to your attention. If you think your eyes are always glued to your phone now, just wait until you’ve downloaded these apps!

Discover, explore, and enjoy the last Monday of August!

1. Reqoop.com

The idea behind Reqoop is simply genius.  Featured in WWD, NBC New York, and Fashionista, this app targets stylish shoppers all around the globe. As you shop at your favorite stores, take photos of the best items and share them. The Reqoop Network of Stores includes top brands and cherished boutiques but photos from any store can be uploaded. You can win exclusive rewards by simply taking great photos or even just visiting your favorite stores! The app strives to draw shoppers away from their computers and back into stores to experience the traditional shopping experience once again.

2. Poshmark.com

Interested in selling some of those clothes that just sit in the back of your closet? Avoid the hassle of eBay and the stress of bidding wars. Poshmark makes it so incredibly easy! Just snap a photo of the item, filter it Instagram-style, and you now have a cover shot that’ll help you sell the piece! If you’re looking to shop, there are countless beautiful listings to check out. Poshmark shopping parties allow you to shop, sell, and have fun with fashion lovers like you!

3. Pose.com

Pose caught our eye because of one of its latest investors, Rachel Zoe. This outfit-sharing app takes your beloved “selfies” to the next level. Compatible with iPhone and Androids, Pose encourages users to upload outfit ensembles daily with specific tags specifying the category and brand. The app allows your OOTD (outfit of the day) to be shared on Facebook, Twitter, and your personal blog in a more organized, professional manner. Discover, explore, and enjoy! – and register for our event if you haven’t already!

1. Fashion GPS

Fashion GPS was created to save design houses and PR firms from spending incredible amounts of time managing samples, creating and sending virtual look books, and generating press reports. The system manages the entire process and creates public relations and advertising reports for your company. The system is specifically designed for the fashion world and “works behind the scenes like a virtual employee.” The GPS Radar Network keeps you connected to fashion brands and relevant PR agencies. Fashion GPS clients include Kate Spade, Marc Jacobs, Fendi, Gucci, and Chanel.

We can’t wait to hear from Jennifer Jann, Director of Marketing, tomorrow!

2. Women Innovate Mobile

The goal of this startup program is to provide women entrepreneurs with direction, feedback, and connections. WIM is a three-month mentorship-driven accelerator program providing companies with funding, office space, product development and design support, mobile-marketing promotions, and access to mentors, funders, and advisors.

The founder and managing director of WIM, Kelly Hoey, will be joining us tomorrow evening as one of our panelists!

3. Gilt Groupe

If you’re an online shopper, you’ve definitely heard of Gilt. This shopping experience provides a members-only, insider’s access chance for people to experience top designers at up to 60% off. The site has expanded from clothing to include home goods, exclusive local services, and travel packages. Gilt Groupe allows men, women, and children to make their dream designer purchases with the click of a mouse, at a fraction of the cost. We’re so excited to have Vice President of Mobile for Gilt Groupe, Yon Feldman, joining us tomorrow at our meet-up!

Pop-Ups Monday: Monday August 13

With summer winding down, it’s important to appreciate the last few weeks of fantastic weather. As a tribute to the end of the summer sun, we’re highlighting two fashion tech sites featuring the weather!

Discover, explore, and enjoy!

1. Wevther

Sometimes (even after looking up the daily weather), it’s still hard to know what to wear. This site changes each day and is customized based on your current location. Simply click “Use my location!” or enter your postal code, and clothing items matching the local weather appear. If you like an item, simply click on the photo and you are immediately re-directed to its site. You can even select a day in the future and see, not only the weather prediction for that day, but also the collection of items recommended based on the predicted climate of that given day. Aside from getting great clothing recommendations based on weather predictions, the site allows you to discover new great online shopping sites!

2. WeatherOnSale

This site offers up to 80 percent off of seasonal apparel when the weather gets below a certain temperature. Instead of dreading the snow, you’ll be begging for it to get cold enough so you can save on great winter gear! The beauty of the site is that it differs from your standard sale. The best sales normally occur on the off-seasons of whatever product you are purchasing. But in the case of Weather on Sale, the colder it gets in New York City, the lower the prices of winter gear. Let the countdown to freezing temperatures commence!

August is a hot and steamy month—the perfect time to update your lingerie wardrobe! Shopping for underwear can be awkward and uncomfortable, especially in this summer heat. The following three fashion tech sites are quite different, but all offer great selections. Do the best lingerie shopping without having to leave the comfort of your air-conditioned apartment!

Discover, explore, and enjoy!

1. MeUndies

This site claims to be the most comfortable and the most convenient in all things underwear! The first step is to answer the questionnaire, indicating your preferences.  Then, the site matches your preferences, allowing you to shop for your favorite styles. After you find what you love, you can either make a one-time purchase or put your favorite pair on auto-ship and get a different color or style delivered straight to your door every month. The shop is designed for both men and women and has been featured in WWD, Refinery29, Forbes, and Glamour.

2. PantyByPost

This is certainly a creative idea for fashion tech! Panty By Post is a monthly panty subscription service so that you can either give or receive “a pretty panty every month in the mail.” The site offers three different lines: Signature, Bridal, or Men’s. Subscriptions are available from three months to one year and the longer your subscription, the more you save. Panty By Post is either a worthwhile gift to yourself, or a thoughtful and romantic gift to your significant other. The packages that arrive in the mail are absolutely adorable, and guaranteed to make your mailman blush!

3. AdoreMe

Like so many fashion tech sites, your experience on Adore Me begins with a quiz to reveal your personality. The site stands out because you are then given access to your own private showroom for free, featuring a personalized selection of intimate apparel each month. The four stylists that create the showrooms are experienced and reliable, ensuring customer satisfaction. Lingerie sets are only $39.95 with free shipping and exchanges. Check out the “Spicy Summer” collection when you visit the site—we doubt you’ll be disappointed. There is even a swim section on the site so you can add a summer bikini to your shopping cart at checkout!

Summer means warm weather, beaches, and weddings! We’ve covered fashion tech sites featuring all sorts of clothing, but what about sites for special occasions? The following three sites break the traditional mold and focus exclusively on the fashion of “I Do.”

Discover, explore, and enjoy!

1. NearlyNewlywed

Looking for “the dress” is a stressful, difficult task. Price, style, and designer are all factors in a bride’s decision. Nearly Newlywed allows brides to buy, try, and sell “nearly new” unique dresses. Designer dresses are selected and subsequently curated for the site. Designers such as Phillip Lim and Vera Wang are featured with a variety of styles available. The Nearly Newlywed Guarantee allows brides on a budget to “Buy it, wear it, and sell it back.” Newlywed founder Jackie created a modern approach to weddings with this site and is helping women from all over shop stress-free for their special day.

2. LittleBorrowedDress

The founding of Little Borrowed Dress comes from a story reminiscent of the film 27 Dresses. Women everywhere suffer from lack of closet space and often bridesmaid dresses are to blame! If groomsmen rent their suits, bridesmaids should be able to rent their dresses. The chic site provides five simple steps to finding beautiful bridesmaid dresses. First, browse the online collection and get the opinion of your friends by emailing, tweeting, or pinning the options (free fabric swatches are available upon request)! After picking out dresses, shoppers can visit the NYC showroom to try them on. Save the wedding date and reserve the dresses. After the event, simply place the dress in the prepaid envelope provided and send it off. With the help of Little Borrowed Dress, bridesmaid dresses never have to face the fate of spending eternity at the back of your closet!

3. AppyCouple

Whether you have an iPhone or a Android, chances are you never leave home without your phone. Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Tumblr… you’re always connected. Appy Couple is a mobile app allowing couples to keep their guests constantly in the wedding loop! The app allows you to share photos, the story of how you met, the proposal tale, events associated with the wedding, hotel information, and bridal party information with everyone invited. A bride or groom can choose their design and create an account for their upcoming wedding. The program is also accessible to those guests without smart phones through the free coordinating website connected to the personalized app. This genius idea is helping to make weddings run smoothly around the world.  Sign up for an invitation today!

Pop-Ups Monday: Monday July 22

As the end of July approaches, the need to reorganize and update your fall wardrobe starts to appear. In order to make the a seamless transition from summer to fall, start looking ahead for fall trends now. The three fashion tech sites featured this Monday morning all promise to enhance your closets.

Discover, explore, and enjoy!

1. ClosetCouture

The story behind this site is charming and inspired. A style-challenged aspiring publisher moves from Connecticut to New York to Los Angeles, never knowing how to dress for success. So, she creates the solution to her own problem: Closet Couture. It’s a digital fashion media brand for influential women with a love for shopping. Women create virtual closets and fill it with their own clothes as well as their fantasy clothes. The site expanded to include forums, outfit inspirations, style icons, and a blog!

2. Copious

The goal of Copious is to organize shopping around people first and products second. The social network aspect of the site creates an online community with vendors and shoppers. Instead of just buying a product, you are supporting a designer with an interesting story and a background to which you feel connected. Based in San Francisco, California, this company has been praised by Refinery29 and Instyle. The mobile app allows the user to upload photos of any item she may want to sell, pick a price for it, and sell for free!

3. ClosetDash

Closet Dash is all about finding the most effective way to get rid of your old stuff. Throwing out is wasteful—Closet Dash points out that, chances are, someone out there is looking to buy what you no longer need! The site offers a fun, social, opportunity to showcase your items to sell, swap, or give away. The features of Closet Dash include an online personal closet and easy ways to track and follow what you want.

Pop-Ups Monday: Monday July 16

For once, we’re actually excited that today is Monday—we’re only one day away from our awesome Digital Branding Event with OS Fashion! The three speakers at our event tomorrow come from three incredible fashion tech companies. Read about them below so you can take advantage of all they have to offer and be well-informed for our meetup.

Discover, explore, and enjoy!

1. Refinery29

Refinery29 is the epitome of bringing fashion to tech. Whether you’re looking for sales on top designers, “how-to” videos and articles, independent online boutiques, or daily news on fashion, beauty, living, and entertainment, Refinery29 has it all. The site embodies every aspect of the fashion, beauty, and shopping world. We are thrilled to be hosting Nizzi Karai Renaud, VP of Marketing & Merchandising tomorrow at our meetup!

2. Bonobos

How many men do you see walking down the street wearing ill-fitting pants? Is it due to laziness? Ignorance? Whatever the reason, Bonobos has developed “a fit that actually looks and feels great for a wide variety of men.” After mastering pants, Bonobos perfected shirts, suits, shorts, suits, belts, and shoes. If you’re a guy looking to revamp your wardrobe or just update a few essentials, Bonobos is the site for you. Come to our event tomorrow to hear the VP of Integrated Marketing, Tracy Keim, speak about Bonobos.

3. Of a Kind

Of a Kind co-founder Erica Cerulo is our third speaker tomorrow. We fell in love with this site because its goal is to advocate rising fashion designers. There are countless fashion tech sites highlighting sales from well-known designers, but Of a Kind promotes up-and-coming creators. The site takes shopping to a personal, sentimental level ensuring that you feel connected to the exclusive item you buy, and to the ingenious designer who created it.

Thanks for joining us this Monday morning. We hope to see you at our meetup tomorrow at 6:30pm!

Pop-Ups Monday: Monday July 9

It’s back to reality on this lovely Monday! Here are a few new sites to add to your ever-growing online shopping bookmark. Let’s face it, this July heat is making street shopping almost unbearable, and shopping malls are restrictive and redundant. We consider it our duty to share with you the new, innovative, and inspired sites popping up in the expanding fashion tech world.

Discover, explore, and enjoy!

1. BeSleek.com

The features of this website are numerous and varied. Services include Wardrobe Analysis, Style Strategy, Shopping in New York City, and Shopping Online. Is there anything they didn’t think of? BeSleek emphasizes the importance of the Wardrobe Analysis service with a frightening statistic. 80% of women wear only 20% of their wardrobe! The site recommends reviewing the contents of your closet twice a year, evaluating the function and usefulness of each piece. An expert stylist conducts a wardrobe examination, a fitting, mix and match options, and a personalized shopping plan. The Style Strategy service on the site involves an extensive interview, personal shopping, and fittings. There is also the opportunity to shop the streets of New York with a seasoned expert by your side, leading you to hidden shopping destinations and aiding you with your purchases. As if all of these services aren’t enough, BeSleek offers a Shape Calculator, Style Wisdom, and Tricks of the Trade!

2. FarFetch.com

Someone alert Gretchen Weiners—“fetch” has finally happened! And it’s in the form of a fabulous fashion-tech site! FarFetch connects with independent boutiques and businesses around the world.  Each boutique represented has an individual viewpoint, with over 1,000 diverse fashion labels for men and women.  Aside from the usual clothing, shoes, jewelry, and bags sold, FarFetch sells accessories and lifestyle items as well, so nothing you own has to be mainstream. One of the best parts of the site is something called The Playlist: “An international music and fashion celebration” connecting online music pop-up shops with fashion films and live performances. Definitely worth checking out!

3. Fabricly.com

Fabricly is all about collaborating with the best undiscovered designers striving to get to the next level – and we love it! The company sympathizes with us shoppers, knowing that in today’s world, it is nearly impossible to find original, unique pieces.  Fabricly hand-picks the designers and provides them with the tools to execute a killer collection.  Paired with PR support, Fabricly certainly boosts designers to the next level, simultaneously providing shoppers with new, distinctive clothing. Featured on NBC, Elle, Nylon, and WWD, we’re so happy to have discovered them!
