Tech Crush Thursday: Elon Musk
This week’s tech crush, Elon Musk, likes to think big.
This South African-born genius taught himself how to program a computer at the age of 10. He studied Business and Physics at the University of Pennsylvania and then went on to study Applied Physics and Materials Science at Stanford.
From there, he entered into entrepreneurship, co-founding X.com, a financial and e-mail payment service. That eventually evolved into the widely used PayPal, which was acquired by eBay for $1.5 billion in 2002.
In 2002, Musk founded another company, SpaceX, which develops and manufactures space launch vehicles. One of Musk’s biggest goals is to help advance the technology of rocket science. Musk is also co-founder and head product designer at Tesla Motors. He was one of the designers of the first fully electric sports car, the Tesla Roadster.
Since an early age, Musk has dreamed about getting into three areas—“important problems that would most affect the future of humanity,” as he said later—“one was the Internet, one was clean energy, and one was space.”
He has done exactly that! To boot, he’s a dad to triplets!
That’s one busy man… and an obvious TWF tech crush.
