Chanel Introduces the Biggest Bag Ever
Karl Lagerfeld debuted this giant hula hoop bag yesterday for Chanel’s Spring 2013 fashion show in Paris. Although all the accessories were whimsical and over the top, this one truly takes the cake!
Now the question is, how much will this giant purse retail for?
Love it? Hate it? We just can’t decide!

Fashion Icon Friday: Blake Lively

Known as the privileged New York City socialite Serena van der Woodsen on the hit TV show Gossip Girl, Blake Lively is everywhere these days and looking FANTASTIC.

Not only does she style herself for every red carpet event and public appearance, she also recently married Hollywood heartthrob, Ryan Reynolds. Those might be the most beautiful unborn children ever.

This TV and movie star has worn everything from a daring red Valentino gown at the 2012 Emmys to a lacy little black Dolce & Gabbana number at a movie premiere, and she always looks stunning! We guess it doesn’t hurt to be best friends with Karl Lagerfeld or Christian Louboutin himself. Blake even has a Louboutin shoe officially named after her! We certainly wouldn’t mind a shoe named after us… hint, hint.

To top it off, Blake has served as the face of Chanel, and more recently, the face of Gucci Première perfume. In the Gucci campaign, launched August 2012, the blonde beauty donned a long gold gown, looking nothing short of stunning. We can’t wait to see what Blake wears next!

Fashion Icon Friday: Leandra Medine AKA The Man Repeller

New York Fashion Week saw a rise in bloggers - moreso than any other year. The likes of Bryan Boy and Tavi Gevinson were seated front row alongside Anna Wintour. That inspired us to choose New York’s favorite blogger, Leandra Medine (or as she deemed herself, Man Repeller), as our fashion icon this week.

Leandra coined the term “man repelling” as “outfitting oneself in a sartorially offensive mode that may result in repelling members of the opposite sex.” Her style influence has lead to the increase of girls decked in sequins, overalls, leather, fur, baseball caps and flamingos - all layered on top of each other. She has also coined the term “Arm Party” (lots and lots and lots of bracelets), so she is often seen dripping in jewels from her bestie’s line, Dannijo.

In the last year, it seems that the fashion industry wants a piece of Leandra. She has collaborated on major projects, from helping design Michael Kors’ latest store to styling Barney’s infamous window displays. She’s even designed a few items of her own, including spiked booties that double as a weapon and a blazer complete with fur balls. Just like everyone else, we can’t get enough of her satirical take on the fashion world and are looking forward to seeing what creative outfit she comes up with next.

But truth be told, this Man Repeller didn’t do a very good job of repelling the opposite sex.  Just a few months ago, she tied the knot in a Marchesa dress topped off with a satin biker jacket made for her by Rebecca Minkoff. Love!

Tech Crush Thursday: Lauren Santo Domingo

As New York Fashion Week comes to an end, we’re crushing on the woman who created a way to buy the pieces you love, immediately after they’ve walked down the runway.

Lauren Santo Domingo is the co-founder and creative director of Moda Operandi. Moda Operandi is one of THE online sources to view fashion shows and have backstage access to top designers. The site curates online exclusive trunk shows featuring full collections from top luxury designers, available months before anywhere else. Moda Operandi brings lines from the likes of Alexander Wang, Derek Lam, and Proenza Schouler to the fashionably-impatient.

Lauren Santo Domingo, or LSD as she is often referred to, is known as one of the most influential style setters. After graduating from the University of Southern California, LSD moved to New York seeking a career in fashion. Starting out as an assistant at Vogue, she eventually moved on to become Associate Market Editor for the magazine—now LSD is one of the contributing editors. After years at Vogue, LSD decided to enter the expanding fashion + tech space, founding Moda Operandi with partner Áslaug Magnúsdóttir. We love someone who can be so influential in fashion and also the tech world—oh, and who doesn’t even have to wash her own hair.

Follow her on Twitter and Pinterest!

Fashion Icon Friday: André Leon Talley

To celebrate New York Fashion Week, our fashion icon is the man who has been in more front rows at fashion shows than we can count—André Leon Talley.

The former editor-at-large for Vogue magazine has been a fashion show staple across the globe for shows in New York, London, Paris, and Milan. After receiving his Masters from Brown University, André Leon Talley moved to New York and worked as Andy Warhol’s assistant at Interview Magazine. He then became associated with Vogue editor-in-chief at the time, Diana Vreeland, and by 1983 was working at Vogue as a fashion news editor. Over the years he moved up in Vogue, eventually becoming Editor-at-Large and having his own column, Life with André.

On top of his long career at Vogue, André has also been a judge for America’s Next Top Model, alongside Tyra Banks. He has written a few books, and is involved in ballet and other philanthropies. Over the years, André Leon Talley has used his influence to inspire young creatives and designers - he currently serves on the Board of Trustees for Savannah College of Art and Design.

When spotted in the front row, or on the red carpet, you can’t miss André Leon Talley’s bold style - often decked out in furs and tribal-inspired clothing. We hope to catch a glimpse of him this fashion week!

Tech Crush Thursday: Sophia Amoruso

Everyone at our office owes a huge ‘thank you’ to Sophia Amoruso for founding our favorite online retailer for trendy but inexpensive fashion, Nasty Gal.

Started as an ebay store for vintage clothing in 2006, Sophia has grown Nasty Gal into a top selling online retailer. What we like even more about her is that she made Nasty Gal successful mainly using social media platforms such as Facebook, TwitterTumblr, and Instagram rather than traditional marketing. Her story is inspiring: she raised capital with no experience in the area, and she admits she didn’t even know how to use Powerpoint to make a presentation. Her passion for the idea is what has gotten her this far, and what continues to keep the Nasty Gal brand growing!

It’s been a big year for Nasty Gal, too, with over $128 million in sales. This month during New York Fashion Week, the site will launch their own bi-annual magazine, Super Nasty. Alongside the magazine, Nasty Gal is launching their own label for Fall/Winter 2012!  We can’t wait to check it out!

Check out this video of Sophia Amoruso sharing her story of Nasty Gal, why she loves her customers, and where the name Nasty Gal comes from.

Fashion Icon: Solange Knowles

Anyone who has a sister knows that it can be hard to define yourself - especially if your older sister is Beyoncé. We think Solange Knowles has made her own mark as a singer, songwriter, actress, DJ, and fashion icon.

She’s been interested in singing and dancing since a young age; she even began writing her own songs when she was nine. Before releasing her own solo albums, Solange was a backup dancer for her sister’s group, Destiny’s Child. On top of her solo hits, Solange has also has also ventured into acting (if you were a true Bring It On fan, you might remember her in the third Bring It On: All or Nothing)!

The now DJ/model has also broken into the fashion scene. Both Solange and Beyonce model for their family’s clothing line, House of Deréon. In 2008, she was an ambassador for the contemporary Armani line, Armani Jeans. She has also been Vogue.com’s guest blogger for their “Today I’m Wearing” series.

It was recently released that Solange will be the new face of Madewell for their fall campaign. We think this might have something to do with her being BFF’s with J. Crew creative director, Jenna Lyons… and of course her awesome and eclectic style. For a sneak peak at the Madewell photo shoot check out this video!
